The Barbados exhibition : S. Williams beat Caroline Wozniacki 6-4.

I don't care about the score of this match and about the match as it was no serious stuff. People from The Barbados had loads of fun, I presume : I'm pleased for them.

Caroline in The Barbados training and playing this week-end exhibition match.

Wozniacki in for tennis battle with Serena this weekend in Barbados.

11/24/2009

International tennis superstar Caroline Wozniacki arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday just days before she she is scheduled to do battle with Serena Williams at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium.

The world number 4 was all smiles as she greeted the press at the Grace Adams Suite yesterday and noted that it was always a dream of hers to come to Barbados.

“I was really looking forward to coming here and spending some time hear. I have heard some wonderful things of Barbados and I am looking forward to exploring the island,” said Wozniacki.

Wozniacki noted that Williams was the first person she heard talking about the match-up and then she was approached by her agent. According to her when she heard it was going to be in Barbados she jumped at the opportunity.

She is coming off of an hamstring injury she picked up at the BGL Luxembourg Open, forcing her to retire hurt from that tournament. However, the Danish superstar is confident that everything is great.

“I am feeling really good now; I had a lot of days off. I started to practice last week and now I feel good, I feel fit. Yeah I am ready,” said Wozniacki.

Playing against current world number 1 Serena Williams is not going to be easy but Wozniacki is up for the challenge.

“She is a great player and has a great personality as well a really nice girl. I am really looking forward to seeing her here,” said Wozniacki.

Wozniacki will be the staying at the Sandy Lane Hotel, along with her mother Anna, father Piotr and brother Patrik. She turned pro in July 2005 and has won six World Tennis Association Tour singles and was runner up in this year’s US Open.

Don't think it's clever playing an exhibition match knowing she has just recovered from injuries and also she hasn't rested enough after very heavy 2009 season. It maybe is great for The Barbados seeing a bit of the WTA big guns with such exhibition match but for me such exhibitions are a waste of time and energy.

News about Caroline's injury !

Todays doctors visit went well, Caro is 100% fit again. She will start running tomorrow and get about 30 mins tennis training a day untill Barbados.

"It went very well. She is fresh and healthy and ready for hard training from tomorrow," says her father and coach, Piotr Wozniacki, to TV 2 Sport after Caroline Wozniackis visiting her physiotherapist Monday.

"This means that all the little injuries that Caroline had at the end of the season was not as serious as I was talking about," stresses relieved Piotr Wozniacki.

Starts with jogging:

The young Danish tennis player starts with training relatively quietly, so the damage does not pop up again.

"She starts up with jogging and then she plays about a half hour of tennis each day at first. Next week we go to Barbados, where she will get a real tennis training program again," says Piotr Wozniacki.

NB : The news is of Tuesday but a very good news if we believe her physio. I hope the injury is perfectly healed.

Caroline Wozniacki tennis academy

Wozniacki tennis academy.

Caroline Wozniacki is now launching a project, which is ultimately to create a new Danish top player.

Caroline will, with her father Piotr, start a tennis academy in Copenhagen, where young aspiring talents can get competent training and insight into life as a tennis professional.

"I feel that for me it is important to give some of all the talent out there a chance. In this way we, who have tried it, can give our knowledge to new aspiring talents," says Caroline Wozniacki and explain.

"It will be twice a month the first year where we're going to try to give young talents the opportunity to live as professional tennis players," says Caroline Wozniacki to TV2 Sport and describes one of the ideas behind the project.

Talents should be trained hard:
"They will be trained hard so that they experience what it is like to live as a tennis player at the highest levels with diet and workout plans and everything that goes with it," explains the 19-year tennisstar and insists that anyone can join.

A central figure in the academy is Caroline Wozniackis father Piotr, who has trained his daughter to be among the world's best female tennis players.

"I have gained much knowledge by traveling with Caroline, about being a professional tennis player. This I want to pass on. It is important for me to say that we will not make money on this project," says Piotr.

A Papparazi took this picture when she was on hollidays at Mauritius. I don't like to post such picture but hey I will make an exception because it's off-season.

Caroline will play doubles with Medina Garrigues ( ESP ) next season.

New doubles partner for Caroline Wozniacki and more double matches next year.

Caroline Wozniacki has decided she wants to play more double matches next season since she as a top 10 player isn't allowed to participate in nearly as many single tournaments next year.
Wozniacki has just said yes to partner with the 27-year old Anabel Medina Garrigues from Spain for the whole season next year, after having had Cirstea as regular doubles partner this year.
Caroline say she and Garrigues have agreed to play about 10 tournamnets together next year. All 4 Grand Slams and the biggest Masters tournaments. Garrigues and Wozniacki won 2008 China Open together, the only time they have been partners until now.
One of Caroline's two career doubles tournamnet victories so far. The other was 2009 Memphis with Victoria Azarenka.
Anabel Medina Garrigues is currently ranked 11 in doubles.

Garrigues' regular doubles partner Virginia Ruana Pascal is about to end her career, so Garrigues had to find a new doubles partner for next season and chose Wozniacki who has now accepted to partner with Garrigues.
Garrigues and Ruana Pascal has won French Open doubles the last two years and won silver at the 2008 Olympics after loosing the final to the Williams sisters.
So Caroline has something to live up to in doubles next year.

From having played 26-27 tournamnets in 2009, Wozniacki is only going to participate in 16-18 tournamnets in 2010.
One of the tournaments she's forced to not play in 2010 is "Swedish Open" in Båstad. She won this tournamnet in 2008 and was in the final in 2009. As a top 10 player she's only allowed to play 1 USD220,000 tournamnet every half season and "Swedish Open" in Båstad is held only one month prior to Caroline playin "Danish Open" in Farum in August.

Year End Championships 2009 ( SEC ) SF : Injured and tired Caroline Wozniacki retired against Serena Williams ( USA ) 4-6, 1-0.

Caroline Wozniacki tried to compete for this match but unfortunatly she hadn't enough strenght but fought though during the match where she didn't look foolish at all. She broke 4 times Serena Williams's serve ( 3 times in the 1st set and once in the 2nd set ). But unfortunalty her serve game was poor though, she got broken 4 times. In the second set, Wozniacki led 1-0 and 40-15 on her serve but it was too much for her : she was forced to retire ! Beside the left thight injury, there was also a pulled stomach muscle.

In general Caroline did a very good YEC where I only can be proud of ! She didn't deserve such sad end but that's the cruel side of tennis and sport.

Now, Caroline needs a Long, long rest to heal her injuries perfectly and recharge her empty batteries !

I hope with all my heart you'll be back in January 2010 focused, fully prepared, in top shape and stronger than ever for a new season with loads of success ! I will miss you during off-season but Enjoy your hollidays with your family and friends in Denmark !

I love you Caroline and wathever happens I always will be a loyal and very passionate fan of you !

Kom Saa, Caroline !

3rd Match White Group : Jelena Jankovic beat Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2.

Don't have many things to say because it was a non-match at Caroline Wozniacki's side : she could barely move well on the court, hit many errors and couldn't serve properly at all. I think she still felt the efforts put at her two last matches and also the fact she plays with an injured left thight.

It didn't take much effort for the lucky Jelena Jankovic to cruise over Caroline and the match ! The score is fair, I think.

Despite the loss and also with the fact Victoria Azarenka had to retire during her match against alternative n°2 and also best friend of Caroline : Agnieszka Radwanska ( POL ). She won the 1st set 6-4. She went up in the second set to a 4-0 lead but suddenly everything went wrong with the young Belarussian, she choked big time to eventualy lose the 2nd set with 7-5. What we didn't know is that she felt an injury as she took then 8 minutes medical timeout. The work done by the physio changed nothing, she nearly couldn't move anymore on the court. At 4-1 in the third set for Radwanska, Victoria decided to retire.

For the people who love drama, the white group was the group for them for sure !

In the semis, Caroline will face Serena Williams ( USA ) but with Caroline's health and the fact she's OUT of shape, I expect nothing from her ! A miracle must happen for the girl from Odense.

Thursday, October 29, 2009

2nd match White Group : Caroline Wozniacki beat Vera Zvonareva 6-0, 6-7, 6-4

Caroline brought herself totaly in troubles by blewing up a very confortable lead 6-0, 5-2. She couldn't close out the match and began to choke big time with eventualy losing the set 6-7 while also leading 2-0 and 3-2 in the tie break. Then she got a medical timeout because of her injury at her leftleg.

Even with that, she still felt pain at her leftleg and had to play the whole 3rd set with pain and I think she had tears in her eyes. She went up 3-1 in the 3rd set and could break again the serve of Vera Zvonareva at 3-1 30-40 but missed the opportunity to lead 4-1 , Vera Zvonareva held to make it 3-2. Caroline had an awful serve game by being broken back at love ! 3-3. Vera Zvonareva had no difficulties this time to hold her serve to make it 4-3 but it was the last game the young and talented Russian would win of this match. Caroline held on her serve to equalise to 4-4. You could see the pain on Caroline's face but she didn't give up. At 4-4, Caroline broke the serve of Vera at 15-40 : 5-4. Now, she serves again for the match but she had to face a break point, she managed to saves it and going 'till match point ! A match point she didn't let go this time by closing out the match full of pain !

It wasn't a good match for a very short tempered fan like me but I'm very concerned about her health ! Will she be fit enough to take at least one set against Jankovic if not beating the Serbian ? We'll see ! She still leads in the group with 2 victories on 2 and 4-2 at sets side. She isn't qualified yet despite what the Danish TV said !

Sony Ericsson Championship 2009 : Safina retired against Jelena Jankovic.

Dinara Safina ( RUS ) retired quick in her match against Jelena Jankovic ( SRB ). The score was 1-1 in the 1st set, then Safina took the decision to retire because maybe of an injury. Dinara Safina will be replaced by Vera Zvonareva who will then play against Caroline and Victoria Azarenka ( BLR ).

NB : Vera Zvonareva ( RUS ) was last year's YEC finalist.

1st match White Group : Caroline Wozniacki beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.

If finaly was a good result for Caroline ! Quite impressed she could beat Victoria Azarenka when Caroline was doubtfull to play this match because of the injury she got at Luxemburg last week. It seems it was a great match but I couldn't watch it as I'm on lowband unfortunatly. As soon I can watch the match I will give my full impression but I think, by the comments I red here and there, Caroline showed great quality of tennis despite she lost the 1st set on a hard score : 6-1.

Yet, the qualification isn't there at all for Caroline as she still has to play against Jelena Jankovic and Dinara Safina.

Yet great begin to the group matches for Caroline !

Caroline last big tournament of the year 2009. Sony Ericsson Championships at Doha ( Quatar ) 26/10/2009 - 01/11/2009.

Caroline Wozniacki is now at her last big tournament of the year where she will play against the best 8 ranked player of this year ! The tournament begins today ! 1st , there are group matches where she will play against the 3 other girls she has in her group. If she wants to qualify for the semi finals, she MUST end at the 2 first places of the group otherwise she'll be eliminated.

The group draw took yesterday place and there is the result of the draw :

Group 1 ( Maroon Group ) :

Serena Williams ( USA )
Venus Williams ( USA )
Elena Dementieva ( RUS )
Svetlana Kuznetsova ( RUS )

Group 2 ( White Group ) :

CAROLINE WOZNIACKI ( DEN )
Dinara Safina ( RUS )
Viktoria Azarenka, ( BLR )
Jelena Jankovic
( SRB )

A very hard group for Caroline as she has never beaten yet Safina nor Jankovic. Caroline also lost her two last meetings with Victoria Azarenka. It will be her first participation to the YEC ( Year End Championship ). Caroline has nothing to lose there : I hope she won't put too much pressure on her and I hope she had enough days to recover from her Luxemburg injury. Yet I expect very good performances though , that she gives everything she has left under her belt !

Video of the presumed match fixing controversy.

A bit of the translation what Piotr said ( at that time Caroline led 7-5, 3-0 ) :

after some coaching advices he lowers his voice and says:

" when you'll win 5-0 or something you'll go to...[mumbles something, I think he says 'main...'] because there's no point. You won't play another match. So at least let them have... You understand? After that you can't do anything. Fight a little, see how it goes. You can stop it...if you want...call her [trainer], let her see how it is and tell her [mumbles sth]... but for now play, fight a little "

By this some people may think there was a match fixing but that ONLY ARE suppositions but for me it was a very stupid move from Piotr Wozniacki.

Tennis authorities looking into Wozniacki match.

Tennis authorities looking into Wozniacki match
By CHRIS LEHOURITES, AP Sports Writer

LONDON (AP)—Tennis authorities are looking into a WTA Tour match involving U.S. Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki that apparently sparked bettors to pile money on her opponent when she was on the verge of losing in straight sets.

Wozniacki, a 19-year-old Dane ranked sixth in the world, retired from the first-round match at the Luxembourg Open with a hamstring injury on Wednesday while leading Anne Kremer of Luxembourg 7-5, 5-0.

Wozniacki’s father, Piotr, told his daughter at 3-0 in the second set to retire before winning because her injury would prevent her from playing in the next round. His comments, apparently spoken in his native Polish, were picked up by microphones and heard by viewers watching the match on the Internet.

“I went onto the court and said to her: ‘Caro, it does not matter whether it’s going to be 5-0, 4-1 or 3-2. You can not play the next round, so you shouldn’t take the risk,”’ Piotr Wozniacki said Thursday on Danish radio. “I’m very proud of Caroline, because she stopped the fight and gave her opponent a chance.”

The father’s comments during the match led to a surge in online bets for Kremer to win.

The governing bodies of tennis created a Tennis Integrity Unit last year to combat gambling and match-fixing.

“We’re just looking into everything that happened in this match,” WTA spokesman Neil Robinson said, adding that he believed the information would go to the integrity unit. “I would think that would be the way it would go. They are aware of it.”

The Tennis Integrity Unit does not comment on cases, and neither would *******, an online gambling site that works closely with tennis authorities.

“Under the terms of our memorandum of understanding with sporting bodies worldwide, it is up to the sporting authorities to comment,” ******* spokesman Tony Calvin said. “However, it is reasonable to assume that in high-profile cases like this, correspondence has been made.”

*******, however, said it did not have any concerns about the match at this stage, and that the money won or lost was not unusual.

In Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Wozniacki professed her innocence.

“So, people bet on my matches. Some win, others lose. I just know that I am clean. It is most important to me,” Wozniacki said. “And if anyone is in doubt about my injury, I can both produce scan from the hospital and a report from the tournament physiotherapist.”

Although it appears unlikely that Wozniacki conspired to fix the match, she could still be fined for “lack of effort” according to International Tennis Federation statutes.

In 2007, ******* voided all bets on a match involving Nikolay Davydenko because of suspicious gambling patterns. The Russian withdrew against Martin Vassallo Arguello in the third set of a match in Poland, citing a foot injury. Both players were cleared of any wrongdoing after an ATP investigation.

Since the Davydenko match, other players have said they have been approached by outsiders trying to influence a match, and still more have been fined or suspended for gambling on matches.

Also, Davydenko was fined $2,000 for lack of effort after a loss that same year at the St. Petersburg Open, but the charge was dropped after the Russian won an appeal.

Associated Press writer Jan M. Olsen in Copenhagen contributed to this report.

NB : Replace the **** by Betfair

Luxemburg 1st round : Unprofessionnal Caroline Wozniacki retired against Kremmer while leading 7-5, 5-0

I'm sorry but for me, it's clearly an unprofessionnal behavior ! What would it cost her staying maybe for one or two minutes more on court ? She was injured ? Oki but even on one leg, she should have beaten local Anne Kremmer. Also I dislike more and more the way Piotr, her father, interfers in her career : He doesn't have a clue what's tennis about. He maybe thinks he's the next big thing. I don't know. And the crazy schedule of Caroline is scary. I'm afraid that he will burn Caroline OUT. I understand, he's n°1 fan of her daughter and he wants the best for her but there are limits.
He should better coach the Odense football ( soccer ) team or a team nearby instead of doing silly things with her.
If she didn't want to play Luxemburg, she didn't feel at 100%, she should have withdrawn of the tournament.

Next week, she will play the YEC ( Sony Ericsson Championship ) at Doha with the 8 best players of the WTA tour ranking. I don't expect much, to be honest.

Osaka Japan Open QF : Caroline Wozniacki beat Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ) 6-2, 6-7, 6-2

Not much to say about this match because with the livescore only you can't bring story of the match but yet Caroline led 4-2 in the 2nd set but then kinda choked, she had loads of difficulties to go to the tie break that she eventualy lost badly 7-1. The 3rd set was easier because she went up to 4-0. Aleksandra Wozniak won her serve ( 4-1 ), Caroline held ( 5-1 ), Aleksandra kept her serve ( 5-2 ) then Caroline closed out the match on her serve to win the match in 3 sets : 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

Her opponent in the semis will be Samantha Stosur ( AUS ) ! The match will take place tomorrow.

Osaka Japan Open 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki destroys Katie O'Brien ( GBR ) 6-0, 6-1

Nothing else to say but : Easy, Easy, Easy ! By this win, Caroline advances to the 3round for another all Wozzy match against Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ). The last time they met, it was 2 weeks ago but Caroline had to retire because of the flu ( not the lame Swine flu ).

Would be a much harder match than the one of today but if she is focussed, she should beat Aleksandra.

Osaka Japan Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki beat Ayumi Morita ( JPN ) 6-1, 6-4

Caroline Wozniacki beat Ayumi Morita today 6-1, 6-4. There's no coverage of the tournament but by the score I presume it was a quite easy match for Caroline. By this that's her 1st won match since her lost final at the US Open. Next opponent will be Katie O' Brien ( GBR ) for the 2nd round.

WTA Ranking ( 12/10/2009 ) : Caroline down one place.

Caroline Wozniacki down one place on the WTA Ranking. Elena Dementieva overtook her 5th place by also going down one place from n°4 to n°5 ! Svetlana Kuznetsova went up from 6th to 4th in the world thx to her tournament win at Beijing last week-end.

She will play this week Osaka and next week Luxemburg before going to the YEC ( ( Year End Championship ) Sony Ericsson Championship ) in Doha ( Quatar ) from 26/10/2009 'till 01/11/2009 if she goes to the final of course.

Caroline last blog entry !

She's unhappy with the WTA and tournament director of Beijing China Open. She wanted to play on monday her match versus Martinez Sanchez, not on Sunday.

Source : Caroline Wozniacki official blog

Hello Everyone,

Sorry it has been a few weeks since I have put up a new blog update, but I am in Beijing now and have some free time so I wanted to let everyone know what I have been doing. After my great US Open, and trip to New York, I went home to Copenhagen for a few days where I spent some time with my friends and family, and also went to Monaco where I have a home now too. On one of my days off, my brother Patrick and I took a short trip to Paris to attend Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s charity event with some other tennis players – David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco. It was so much fun, and I had a good time getting all dressed up for the charity every which was very, very nice.

After about ten days off (which was much shorter than I expected after the US Open because I didn’t expect to get to the finals), I had to head to Tokyo for the first of three events in Asia. I don’t know if it was because the flight was so long, or I was enjoying myself too much at home, but I ended up getting sick with some sort of virus the past six or seven days which has been very unfortunate. In Tokyo, I drew Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada in my first round, and I knew I shouldn’t have played at all, but I was hoping the adrenaline of the match would carry me through it. However, I ended up having to stop at the end of the first set and retire which I was disappointed about. After my match, I ended up staying in Tokyo for a few days to get some rest before I hopped on a flight to Beijing for my next event – the China Open.

In Beijing, I still was not feeling close to 100%, so I asked the tournament director and WTA for a Monday start (instead of playing my first round on Sunday), but it was very frustrating to learn on Saturday that I was scheduled to play my first match on Sunday. I really needed every hour of rest to get over this virus and ready for my first match, but the WTA or tournament director did not seem to care at all and take this into consideration. The WTA Tour is supposed to be a players union, but I certainly don’t think they represented my best interest this week in Beijing and it was very disappointing. In my first round, I ended up playing Maria Jose Martinez-Sanchez, and I played a good first set which I won close 7-5. In the second set, it was really close again but I lost it in a tiebreaker and then in the third set I just completely ran out of energy and ended up losing the match.

Losing my first round in is Beijing was exactly what I was worried about since I have not practiced for more than one hour in the past week. I was hopeful that if th WTA were to give me a first round start on Monday that I could’ve had a much better chance of winning and feeling better as I were to advance through the tournament. I am never one to make excuses because Martinez-Sanchez did play a good match, but I really feel the WTA and tournament director could’ve helped me and they chose not to.

So far my trip to Asia has been disappointing to say the least because I have only played one match and a set in the past two weeks, but I am really looking forward to going to Osaka for my last event in Asia. I have a lot of good memories of Osaka from back in the juniors because it is where I won my first big junior tournament. This is the first time since I have been on the Tour that there has been an event in Osaka, and I am really exited to be playing in it. My goal is of course to win the event, however at this point I would just be happy getting some good matches to prepare for the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha in three weeks.

After the Sony Ericsson Championships, I am planning to go on a ten day holiday with some of my girlfriends and it has been fun the past few days trying to figure out where we will go to rest and have some fun. I will be sure to announce my holiday plans when I know more, and in the meantime I hope all of my fans are doing well and thank you for all your tremendous support – it means so much to me!

Best Wishes,

Caroline

Beijing , China Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki ousted by Martinez Sanchez ( SPA ) 7-6, 6-7, 0-6.

Last night or morning Caroline Wozniacki got again a 1st round loss ! That's not the 1st time this season she got ousted so early in tournaments. And also not the 1st time she collapses when she got everything in hands.
There's something wrong with her mental for sure 'cause tired or not : You NEVER can afford giving a match away like that if you are a TOP Player ! Unbelievable she got again beaten against such average player.

I'm furious of this loss and they way she lost the match.

Tokyo PPO 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki forced to retire vs. Aleksandra Wozniak.

Caroline Wozniacki tried to play today but she wasn't in form at all as she suffers from Influenza ( flu ) since a few days. Her father said she was fever free but I don't think at all she was feeling well. She had simply no energy. She should have stayed in bed instead of playing but if she didn't she would have recieved a fine. She was 0-5 behind 0-30. A pitty she was sick because she could go very far in this tournament.

Get well soon, Caroline.

Next tournament should be next week in China ( Beijing ).

Tokyo Pan Pacific Tournament : next step for Caroline Wozniacki !

Caroline will play on monday the Tokyo Pan Pacific Tournament. I wonder how she will cope her new status there of GS finalist but I hope she'll do very well ! She's BYE for the 1st round but she will face in the 2nd round : Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ) or Kimiko Date Drumm ( JPN ).

Caroline new world n°5 at the WTA !

This week means a new ranking breakdown for her ! That's the 1st time of her career she go that high ! I hope and I hope she won't follow the path of some other players who got high rankings but then went in a slump like there was no tomorrow !

US Open Final : Caroline Wozniacki failed again to win a final and maybe the biggest of her life.

Caroline Wozniacki failed again to win a final and not a random one but maybe the final of her life by having a lack of game cleverness and especialy maturity against Kim Clijsters 5-7, 3-6.

People will say : What an achievement for Caroline but I don't as losing a final isn't an achievement at all ! People will say : she's still young, she still can win Grand Slam ? No, don't think like this, 'cause when you have the chance of winning one, you have to be nearly perfect what was not Caroline after having lost her serve at 5-4 and serving for the set.

It's time for Caroline to play like a mature woman, not like a girl who's afraid to achieve big things.

I'm not at all fan of unfinished business : when you lose a final, you can't be considered as someone special : you did what loads of others did : FAILING !

At some sides, I agree with Jose Mourinho who only think about the 1st place ! Ending second or worse is like a huge failure for him.

I'm sorry but when I see Del Potro, what he did against Master Federer, it only makes me angry and angry at Caroline ! You would say I'm too hard with her but I'm never too hard with someone I love !

Caroline, stop of collecting runner's up trophy 'cause at the end we only remember winners, NEVER runner's up !

US Open SF : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Yanina Wickmayer 6-3, 6-3

Can't say much things about it as they only broadcasted the semi final between Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams but I can say Caroline did the job she had to do : eliminate Yanina Wickmayer in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Tomorrow's final won't be easy at all for Caroline but I hope she will give the best of herself and not thinking " I'm in a Grand Slam Final, what am I gonna do there ? " : Just play your game, don't be afraid of Kim ( as a Belgian fan of Caroline and patriot, it isn't easy at all to pick who I want to win ) but I will be sad and happy at the same time !

Kom Saa, Caroline ! Give everything you have in your heart and strenght and who knows...

US Open QF : Caroline Wozniacki beat Mélanie Oudin ( USA ) 6-2, 6-2

Melanie Oudin's fairytale ended today by being ousted of the US Open 2009 by Caroline Wozniacki.

It wasn't a spectacular match at all but Caroline played it smart and stayed calm during the whole match. She didn't let Melanie Oudin come into the match what would have been very dangerous for Caroline. To be fair, Oudin showed signs she had no fuel anymore in the motor and the fact she couldn't play the game she used against the Russians like Petrova, Sharapova or Dementieva kinda frustrated her. She had no clue how to respond to Caroline's gamestyle which is totaly different to the Russians. Oudin comitted loads of errors. Also Caroline hadn't a mental breakdown.

In the semis, she will face Belgian Yanina Wickmayer who's another of the big surprises of this US Open. Beware, Caroline because Yanina is a hard hitter ! You'll have to return very well and have a quite better serve than the one of tonight !

Komm saa, Caroline !

US Open 4th round : Caroline Wozniacki upsets Svetlana Kuznetsova ( RUS ) 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.

After a 1st set where Kuznetsova was the better player by winning the set 2-6, Caroline managed to force a tie-break in the 2nd set that she won 7-5.

In the 3rd set, it began not good at all for the Danish prodigy because she was 3-1 behind but after this she fought back and won 4 games in a row to serve then for the match but unfortunatly she was unable to hold serve, Kuznetsova came back to 5-5 ( broke back and then held serve ). It was Caroline to hold serve and she did it 6-5. At 6-5, 30-40 on Svetlana Kuznetsova serve she got her 1st match point but didn't convert it, Kuznetsova held serve : 6-6. It was time for another tie break : Caroline took the lead 3-0 but the Russian came back again 3-3. It would be the last point Svetlana would won of the match because Caroline won the 4 others to win the set and the match after 2h22 of play : 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.

It is the first Quarter Final in a Grand Slam for Caroline where she will face the surprising and "home" girl Mélanie Oudin.

US Open 3rd round : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Sorana Cirstea ( ROM ) 6-3, 6-2

Caroline Wozniacki finaly took her revenge of her two recent loss against one of her best friends Sorana Cirstea against whom she lost at Roland Garros and in Los Angeles earlier this year.

It was easier than expected and with this victory she reaches again the 4th round of a Grand Slam where she will face Svetlana Kuznetsova where Caroline won't be the favorite. I hope though she will put a good fight and why not causing an upset but for that beside the good fact, she will have to play at her best.

In doubles Caroline and Sorana will meet the Williams Sisters.

Caroline Wozniacki's US Open doubles results so far !

1st round : Caroline Wozniacki/Sorana Cirstea defeated Sybille Bammer ( AUT )/Julia Schruff ( GER ) 6-4, 6-2

And last evening/night ( European timezone ) 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki/Sorana Cirstea defeated Victoria Azarenka (BLR) ( 16 )/Vera Zvonareva ( RUS ) ( 16 ) 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

US Open 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki trashes Petra Martic ( CRO ) 6-1, 6-0.

It really wasn't a difficult match at all for the young Dane but there's still two problems : she got caught way too much by dropshots and also the too few winners hit during this match. The positive point is that she didn't hit many errors.

I still don't think Caroline will get far in the US Open with such gamestyle. Even it was an easy match, Caroline was at time not agressive enough, I think. There are opportunities to close the points out earlier by coming to the net but yet she stays at the baseline.

A tougher test awaits Caroline in the next round where she will play against her double partner Sorana Cirstea ( ROM ) ! Won't talk about revenge anymore 'cause I know what happened after : another disappointment !

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

US Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki pushed Galina Voskoboeva ( KAZ ) 6-4, 6-0

Easy win you would say ? I don't think so at all ! Caroline didn't look relaxed at all during the whole match despite having the match in hands ! But how did she get the match in hands ? Thx to her opponent hitting tons of errors and not able to control her nerves ! Understandable when you have no confidence in yourself.

I disliked the way Caroline let Voskoboeva dictate the match ! Caroline hardly took the initiatives. She simply was the passive Caroline full force, thinking only to defend, never to attack her opponent !

A win is a win, you would say but I'm not happy with such wins ! It doesn't give me confidence at all about a possible breakthrough in a Grand Slam ! She has to let for good the passivness at home in Denmark : I need the agressive, " I take the initiatives " , " You won't dictate the match , I will " Caroline so badly. Being so insecure and hitting so few winners, will never help her !

Caroline, pls. change your mentality and be much more confident in yourself ASAP !!!

US Open time for Caroline Wozniacki and also Stella McCartney clothes !

Caroline is at the last Grand Slam of the season at New-York for the US Open ! The US Open means also the start of wearing the exclusive Stella McCartney line.

In the doubles tournament, Sorana Cirstea ( ROM ) will be again her parnter like she was at Wimbledon. It seems they love to play with eachother.

New Haven Final : Caroline Wozniacki beat Elena Vesnina ( RUS ) 6-2, 6-4

Caroline Wozniacki just won New Haven by having beaten Russian Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-4. It wasn't a good match to watch to 'cause I think Caroline can do much better than this but she won and defended perfectly her New Haven title. Sometimes she was a bit too passive at my eyes, committing some dumb errors.

If she wants to peform well at the US Open and at further tournaments, she has to work on a better leg work ( if you get what I mean ) and also being much more agressive ! Being agressive from the begining 'till the end of the match.

I'm pleased she won this tournament but it would be time to reach for the 1st time of her career a Quarter final of a Grand Slam. She's still young, I know but she shouldn't waste too much time, I think.

Congratulations, Caroline but as demanding fan I want more and more titles !

New Haven SF : Caroline Wozniacki beat Flavia Pennetta ( ITA ) 6-4, 6-1

By beating Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-1, Caroline Wozniacki qualified for her 7th final of the year. She beat quite confortably Flavia Pennetta in straight sets. But her serve isn't optimal yet. There still are some problems with it.
In their H2H , Caroline now leads 2-0.

In the final, she will play against Elena Vesnina who beat in the semis Amélie Mauresmo ( FRA ) in 3 sets 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. Knowing the quite poor ratio of won/lost finals of Caroline ( 2/4 ) and also the fact Vesnina beat Caroline earlier this year, Caroline will have to play a very good tennis to clinch her 3rd title of the year and for the 2nd time in a row New Haven.

In the H2H, Caroline leads 2-1.

The match will be played tomorrow but I hope the rain won't disturb the day as today it rained alot at New Haven.

There will be a coverage of the final, I think and I'll try to catch it to give my impressions. I hope it won't be another disappointment.

As we say in Danish : Kom saa Caroline !

NB : I'll post the US Open draw on Sunday !

Thursday, August 27, 2009

New Haven QF : Caroline Wozniacki defeated Virginie Razzano ( FRA ) 6-4, 6-3

Virginie Razzano couldn't take her revenge against Caroline Wozniacki. She got beaten in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Don't have many things to say about this match as there was no coverage of this match.

In the semis, Caroline will play versus Flavia Pennetta ( ITA ) . It will be a hard match for Caroline as the talented Italian is in form the last weeks.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

New Haven 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ( RUS ) 6-1, 6-4

Not that much troubles for Caroline in the 1st set but in the 2nd set Caroline was down 3-0. Caroline came back because of her opponent kinda choking and took the lead after with 5-4.

After 6 Match Points, Caroline could finaly close the match out !

In the next round, she will meet Virginie Razzano ( FRA ) who Caroline beat at the Eastbourne final a bit more than 2 months ago.

New Haven 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki destroys Edina Gallovits ( ROM ) 6-0, 6-0.

It only took 43 minutes to humiliate Edina Gallovits ( ROM ) with a double 6-0.

In the 2nd round, she will meet Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia.

Football Tennis feat. Flavia Pennetta ( ITA ) and Caroline Wozniacki

New Haven : last stop before the US Open !

Caroline is this week at New Haven where she is the defending champion.

She'll enter tonight in the tournament ( not before 1.00 AM CET ) versus lucky loser Edina Gallovits from Romania. Normaly, she had to play versus Carla Suarez Navaro but had to withdraw due to illness.

A few good wins are badly needed if she wants to enter in the US Open with some confidence.

Toronto allready OVER for Caroline Wozniacki ! Lost to Zheng 5-7, 3-6

Caroline Wozniacki went to Toronto as a simple tourist as she got ousted in a pathetic way by Jie Zheng ( CHN ) in straight sets : 5-7, 3-6. Note : she led confortably 5-2 in the 1st set and could serve to close the set but totaly collapsed ! She put some fight in the second set after having lost 9 games in a row at 0-4 in the second where she came back to 3-4 but it wasn't enough as she lost 2 other games and lost the match 5-7, 3-6.

There's something wrong with her game : Her serve is very poor , she is on an Unforced Errors festival. She also is totaly OUT of form.

I didn't expect much but I NEVER thought she would go so low !

We can now say, she's in a Slump. When will it end ? I don't know unfortunatly.

A thing is sure I won't let her down 'cause she needs alot of support in these difficult times. It's a cliché maybe but you are fan in good and especialy bad times ! She can count on my loyalty and love whatever happens.

A picture of yesterday's promotional Street-Tennis event that took place yesterday in one of the streets of Toronto.

Caroline playing Street-Tennis inToronto with Ana Ivanovic ( SRB )

Caroline Wozniacki is a Toronto this week for the Rogers Cup

This week Caroline Wozniacki is at Toronto ( CAN ) for the Rogers Cup. The Rogers Cup is played during the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 years in Toronto and during the 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 years in Montreal ( Quebec ( Canada ) ) nota benne.

The tournament allready began last week-end with the Qualifiers and yesterday for the MainDraw.

Caroline will enter in the tournament on wednesday for the 2nd round where she will meet either Elena Vesnina ( RUS ) who beat Caroline earlier this year or Jie Zheng ( CHN ).

Her partner in doubles will be one of her best friends Agnieszka Radwanska ( POL ). The match will be played tonight where they will have to beat the Chinese pair Yan Zi/Jie Zheng to qualify for the next round.

I don't expect much from Caroline but if she can put some good results, it will be encouraging with in sight the last Grand Slam of the year : The US Open.

Cininatti QF : Caroline Wozniacki got spanked by Elena Dementieva 2-6, 1-6.

I've a 2 perfect words for such performance : Lacklustre and Ashaming ! It was an Unforced Errors festival at Caroline's side who never was in the match. Her serve was very poor like her forehand.
If she wants to slip out of the Top 10 soon, she's on the right path with but if she wants to stay in the Top 10, she MUSTS change of mentality asap : It's enough of being passive as hell on the court and comitting loads of mistakes.

She also has to gain game cleverness, having a much better forehand and as I said weeks before : staying calm wathever the situation. A true champion shows his/her pedigree when being in troubles, in bad times : by fighting back, getting a plan B or even C game. I've yet to see that at Caroline's side.

Don't want to sound pessimistic but she's near of joining the " Players in a Slump " club. Also the crazy scheduling of her father won't help her, it only will burn her out. It's time for Piotr Wozniacki to step aside and stop thinking he's the next Melanie Molitor or the next fantastic tennis coach : It isn't the case and it will never be the case.

Next week, Caroline will play Toronto ( Rogers Cup ) but I don't expect much of her to be honest as she's OUT of shape.

Cincinnati 3rd round : Melinda Czink ( HUN ) retired.

Caroline Wozniacki is through the Quarters after Hungarian Melinda Czink had to retire when Caroline led 3-0 in the 1st set. Hate it when a win is decided by the retirement of your opponent. I don't like it at all. Her next opponent in the Quarters will be either Elena Dementieva or Sorana Cirstea.

Good luck even I don't have much confidence, Caroline !

Cincinnati 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Aleksandra Wozniak 4-6, 6-4, 6-4

Don't have many things to say about this match beside this scoreline doesn't give much confidence at all. Got broken too many times and also missed loads of opportunities ! She brought again herself into troubles !

She will play against Hungarian Melinda Czink in the next round who ousted in straight sets former n°1 in the world and French Open champion Ana Ivanovic ( SRB ) 7-6, 7-5.

Monday, August 10, 2009

Cinicinnati 10/08/2009 - 16/08/2009

Cincinatti's draw has been made this week-end and in the 2nd round awaits either Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ) or Carla Suarez Navarro ( SPA ) for Caroline ! Hope she will do much better than in LA last week !

Thursday, August 6, 2009

LA Women's Championships 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki LOST to Sorana Cirstea ( ROM ) 6-1, 4-6, 6-7.

I'm full of anger with this stupid loss ! How can you lead a set and a break and then giving the match to your opponent ? That's what we call a CHOKE ! I thought she would learn of her recent losses but I guess I'm wrong ! Instead of showing and defending with pride her n°8 spot in the world, she performs bellow par ! I think more and more she's n°8 by default and not n°8 because of her results. Not satisfied at all what she shows the last weeks or even 3-4 months despite her tournament win in Eastbourne.
She also had to play much more tournaments than other players to get that n°8 spot. At my opinion, she plays way too much tournaments and I blame her father for all of this. She better gets sorted that out asap otherwise I fear the worse for her.

Next tournament : Cincinnati, Ohio. next week. Tournament where former n°1 Kim Clijsters will make her official come-back to the tour. Kim Clijsters talks more about a 2nd career. All the best to her.

Caroline's last blog entry !

My First Stop in the U.S.

Hello Everyone,

I just arrived in the U.S. last Thursday and I wanted to give everyone an update on what I have been doing on my first U.S. stop out in LA because I have been quite busy doing many different things. After a long flight from Europe on Thursday, I went to the tournament site on Friday and practiced twice at the Home Depot Center where the Galaxy football team also practices. It was really hot out which I was not used to at all in my first practice, but the second practice was much better. Later in the day on Friday when I was done practicing, I had a crew of hair, make-up, stylist and photographers come to my hotel room and get me ready for the photo shoot I was doing for a magazine in New York. The stylists really picked out some nice clothes for me to wear for the photo shoot, and after spending about two hours having my hair and make-up done I was finally ready to get started with the photographer.

For the photo shoot, we did three different outfits all of which I liked very much. The first outfit was a long black evening gown dress, the second one was a shorter, more fun, pink fuscia colored dress and the last one was a beautiful multi-colored, long summer dress. When we started the photo shoot Friday afternoon it was very bright and sunny outside, but by the time we were done the sun was setting and it was not very light out anymore.

After the photo shoot, I quickly changed back in my hotel room because my friend Victoria Azarenka was having her 20th birthday dinner celebration with some of the other girls playing in the LA tournament, so we all went across the street to a very nice restaurant for dinner. The view in the restaurant was so nice because we were on the 14th floor, and after over two hours we finally sang Victoria Happy Birthday and had a really, really good chocolate cake!

On Saturday, I practiced twice again and when I was finished I went back to my hotel room to get ready for a special tv interview appearance on ESPN 2 which is covering all of the US Open Series tournaments here in the U.S. and the US Open. The ESPN 2 interview was at the UCLA tennis facility where the men on the ATP tour were playing this week, and once I arrived I met some of the people at the WTA to help with the draw ceremony for my tournament. Afterwards, I quickly headed over to the ESPN booth where Cliff Drysdale, Darren Cahill and Pam Shriver were all waiting for me, and around 7:45 p.m. I went on-air with them and talked about different things for about five or ten minutes until we were finished.

When I was finally done, I was thinking about going to the Barcelona and Galaxy game starting at 8:00 p.m. (Barcelona is one of my favorite teams!), but the LA traffic was just too bad to get there in time. Instead, I went with my publicist to a really nice sushi restaurant in LA called Katsuya which is pretty famous for having many Hollywood stars attend dinner there. I really like out here in LA, and I think some day it would be nice to have a home here where I can come vacation or stay when I am not playing as much.

Since then, I just practiced twice on Sunday to get ready for the singles and doubles matches that started today, and in the afternoon my partner Sorana Cirstea and I lost our first round match to a tough doubles team in three sets of which a tie-breaker was played to decide the third set with the new scoring rules. On Tuesday I will have a day off from match play, but I am very excited to go watch the Galaxy soccer team practice here at the site and hopefully I will get to meet David Beckham! My first round of singles match will be against the winner of my doubles partner Sorana Cirstea and Michelle Larcher de Brito on Wednesady so it should be a good match.

Below is one of the photos from my photo shoot on Friday, and I hope everyone is having a really great summer! I will write more soon as I visit different cities in the U.S. and leading up to the US Open.

Best Wishes,

Caroline

Los Angeles Women's Championship doubles 1st Round : Wozniacki/Cirstea lost against Chuang / Yan 6-1, 4-6, 5-10

The Adidas teenage pair Wozniacki/Cirstea lost against Chuang/Yan in the 1st round of doubles in 3 sets 6-1, 4-6, 5-10. After a very good 1st set, everything went wrong for the teenagers who got defeated again in a 3 sets match. They haven't a good record at 3 sets matches. They nearly lost all of them so far, if I good remember. This team doesn't seem to work well as the results are quite poor.

Now Caroline can concentrate 101% at singles side. In the 2nd round she will meet either her friend and double partner Sorana Cirstea ( ROM ) or Michelle Larcher de Brito ( POR ) .

Do you have suggestions to make this blog much better ?

As you know Caroline won't play 'till begin of August where she will start her US Hardcourt season. As there's 11 days to wait 'till her next match : I ask you readers what would you like to see on my blog, what should I add, what should I improve so you could recomend this blog to all of your friends or people you know who love Caroline. Just send me a comment. I will do my best to please as many people as I can. But no gossips and of course no sexual contents.

Thx in advance.

The Tennis Week Interview: Caroline Wozniacki

Striking style has been a key component of Caroline Wozniacki's singles success. Wozniacki, who warmed up for Wimbledon by winning her fifth career tournament title on the grass courts of Eastbourne last month, reached her sixth final of the season on Saturday, bowing to Spain's María José Martínez Sánchez, 7-5, 6-4.

When she hasn't been playing deep into singles draws, Wozniacki has been an active doubles presence, playing with partners including Venus Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Shahar Peer, Francesca Schiavone and Sorana Cirstea.

Wozniacki will arrive in New York City next month celebrating her collaboration with a new, notable partner. The ninth-ranked Wozniacki will come clad in a distinctive designer style she will debut at next month's U.S. Open.

Wozniacki will represent the new fall/winter 2009 adidas by Stella McCartney tennis line at the U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows. The top woman player in Denmark's history has been selected to become the exclusive new face of the tennis line and will be playing in apparel and footwear from the distinctive sport performance collection at all upcoming tournaments starting with the U.S. Open.

"For me it is essential to wear products that combine performance and style," Wozniacki said. "I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is lightweight, stable and well cushioned. With the adidas by Stella McCartney tennis line I feel like I have everything any fashionable female tennis player always dreams about: cutting-edge adidas technologies combined with Stella’s unique designs that actually perform. I always play better when I feel good, that is very important to me so I’m really excited about getting out on court in it!"

Wozniacki, who succeeds Maria Kirilenko in wearing Stell McCartney's tennis apparel, will give the brand top-10 prominence and greater visibility on the game's most prestigious courts.

"It’s very rare for a fashion designer to dress one of the top 10 players in the world," McCartney said in a statement. "I couldn't be more thrilled and happy to be given that opportunity. Let’s hope this will enhance her performance!"

It marks one of the most potent pairings of designer and athlete since noted fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg designed a line of Reebok tennis' dresses for Venus to wear at both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.

The tennis court has long served as a sports style runway for new trends in fashion. Famed tennis dress designer Ted Tingling, affectionately nicknamed "the leaning tower of pizzazz" by Hall of Fame writer Bud Collins, caused a Wimbledon scandal when he outfitted Gertrude "Gorgeous Gussy" Moran with lace panties. Tingling distinctive dresses for a series of champions including Maureen Connolly, Billie Jean King, Margaret Court and Evonne Goolagong.

In 1985, American Anne White created a stir by wearing an all-white skin-tight body suit at Wimbledon. Andre Agassi earned international attention when he took the court clad in blue denim shorts and more recently Anna Kournikova's midriff-baring belly shirts, Serena Williams' black spandex cat suit, Tommy Haas' sleeveless Nike t-shirt, Rafael Nadal's sleeveless t-shirts and capri shorts became his signature look and Roger Federer has worn both classic tennis sweaters and trench coats onto Centre Court at Wimbledon.

In creating a design for Wozniacki, McCartney, daughter of Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, drew on form and function to create a unique look.

"Comfort is the most important thing for me, on and off the court," Wozniacki told Tennis Week. "Of course I want to look good, but it's really important to wear products that look stylish and can actually perform. I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is comfortable, supportive and well cushioned to be able to perform at my very best."

She celebrated her 19th birthday on Saturday and has become a player for all surfaces.

The rapidly-rising Wozniacki has won titles on three different surfaces: Eastbourne (grass) and Ponte Vedra Beach (clay) earlier this year and Stockholm, New Haven and Tokyo on hard court last season. The 2006 Wimbledon junior champion has advanced to the finals of four of her last eight tournament appearances.

"She's a young player and she's quite solid," former World No. 1 Jelena Jankovic said of Wozniacki. "She goes out there and really goes for her shots. Really, she runs well. She doesn't give you many points free, so everything that you have to do, you have to earn it. It's tough to play against players like that. So she's improving every time and getting better and better, and her results are showing."

Wozniacki started the 2008 season ranked No. 64 and surged up the rankings, becoming the first Danish player ever to capture a Tour singles title when she beat Vera Dushevina to win Stockholm in July of 2008. She topped Anna Chakvetadze to take the New Haven title in August then beat Kaia Kanepi to win Tokyo in October as part of a late-summer tear that saw her win 27 of her last 37 matches.

The only other Dane ever to capture a Tour title of any kind was Tine Scheuer-Larsen, who earned seven Tour doubles titles in the 1980s and 1990s, partnering the likes of former greats Mercedes Paz and Jana Novotna. She is the only Danish woman ranked in the top 300 and Wozniacki believes carrying the tennis flag for her nation is a source of pride rather than an added pressure.

"Tennis is a individual sport it's a lot about you and it's about how disciplined you are and who you surround yourself with so I don't think it matters what country you're from," Wozniacki said. "Of course there's more attention on me because I'm the only one in Denmark that high. If I was Russian I'd be just one of many. Definitely I think it's a positive thing that I'm the only one — there's more attention on me and it feels good to try to be a role model for younger kids. But of course I know people are expecting me to win, but I think that's a positive thing because people realize I can play good tennis."

A personable player who smiles on court and often punctuates her answers in interviews with a laugh, the 5-foot-10 Wozniacki exudes a positive personality on court, covers the court quickly, hits well on the run, and has been working to add some sting to her serve. Wozniacki has all the elements of star power in a sport which has seen several top women pull the plug on their careers or succumb to injury in recent years and her pact to wear McCartney's designs solidifies her status as both a player with great promise and sports marketer's dream.

Since 2007 Wozniacki has been part of the adidas Player Development Program, a service that helps nurture young tennis talent through a unique mix of advice and support, giving an extra helping hand towards building a successful career. Together with the player’s own coaching team, the adidas Player Development Program strives to complement with additional training services, advice and motivation. Fernando Verdasco, Sania Mirza, Grigor Dimitrov, Laura Robson, Raluca Olaru and Sorana Cirstea are some of the players currently participating in the program, which does not replace their own personal trainers but instead gives them an extra helping hand to build a career. Over 30 additional players including Ana Ivanovic and Dinara Safina, have used this free service at various stages in the past three years.

The fall/winter 09 adidas by Stella McCartney tennis collection hits retail in August 2009, including high-end department stores — including Lane Crawford, Isetan, Harrods, Holt Renfrew and Nordstrom — as well as www.shopadidas.com, adidas Sport Performance stores and selected sports retailers around the world. Prices range from $175 for the Skynde shoe, $130.00 for the Performance Dress and $175.00 for the Tennis Image Jacket.

Tennis Week caught up with Wozniacki to discuss her new deal and her views on fashion and tennis.

Tennis Week: Caroline, when adidas initially approached you to wear the Stella McCartney collection how did you feel about it?

Caroline Wozniacki: I have been playing in adidas kit for a while now and when I heard that I would be playing in the adidas by Stella McCartney line I was of course super excited! I had seen the clothes before and always thought they were beautiful. Tennis is such a traditional sport and for years the players have been wearing the same type of clothes at the tournaments. But now it has changed slightly and it is nice to be wearing something different to all the other players.

Tennis Week: Have you seen the Stella clothes Maria Kirilenko has worn and how did you like them?

Caroline Wozniacki: Sure I have seen them! I love the clothes adidas and Stella design. I think I speak for all the girls on tour when I say the adidas by Stella McCartney line is by far the best fashion statement in tennis. It's not traditional, yet it is still very comfortable, it is made for performance and so stylish!

Tennis Week: What are you personal fashion preferences when it comes to on-court and off-court clothes?

Caroline Wozniacki: Comfort is the most important thing for me, on and off the court. Of course I want to look good, but it's really important to wear products that look stylish and can actually perform. I need to have breathable apparel and footwear that is comfortable, supportive and well cushioned to be able to perform at my very best.

Tennis Week: What are you most looking forward to about wearing clothes from the Stella collection? Is there one particular piece that you are especially drawn to?

Caroline Wozniacki: I am really excited about my outfit that I will wear for the first time at the US Open. I do not want to give much away so you will have to come to my first match and check it out for yourself.

Tennis Week: When you were growing up watching tennis, whose fashion sense or style did you admire?

Caroline Wozniacki: I think adidas has done a great job with all the other players for example with Ana Ivanovic. I have seen the dresses she is wearing on court and feel they are so classic and fully suit her. I have for the past couple years really admired what she has worn and I am proud now that I can be part of the adidas by Stella McCartney tennis family.

Tennis Week: When it comes to tennis clothes what is the most important aspect for you? Fit, comfort, color, material?

Caroline Wozniacki: The most important aspect for tennis clothes is the fit and comfort. The fashion element comes next, everybody wants to look good but for me as an athlete it is crucial that I am able to perform on court. If you can find clothing like the adidas by Stella McCartney line that is both fashionable yet also made for performance then you have managed to get best of both sides: performance and style.

Tennis Week: Do you have any interest in modeling as Maria, Daniela and Anna Kournikova have done in the past?

Caroline Wozniacki: To be honest I am fully focusing on my tennis career right now. This year has been successful so far and I am training hard every day. My goal is to stay in the top ten and win some more titles by the end of the year.

Bastad Final : Caroline Wozniacki defeated AGAIN in a final

On 6 final played so far this year Caroline Wozniacki only won 2 which is not a good record at all ! In Bastad's final she got caught nearly everytime the same way : Dropshots and returning very badly the weak shots of her opponent in the net and accumulating the errors. With such a poor display you can't even imagine to win a final nor a match. She was leading 4-1 in the second set but choked by losing 5 games in a row to seal her defeat by the score of 7-5, 6-4.

She lost against the pretty unknown Martinez Sanchez ( SPA ) in straight sets.

That's what we call a lacklustre performance.

She has to use much more her brains, stay calm and be more aggressive. There's no point repeating again and again the same errors.

For the record, all her lost finals were in straight sets.

A bad way to "party" your 19th Birthday.

Bastad SF : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Flavia Pennetta ( ITA ) 6-3, 4-6, 6-2

Caroline needed 3 sets to beat Italian Flavia Pennetta to reach her 6th final of the year. In tomorrow's final she will meet María José Martínez Sánchez (ESP) who beat Gisela Dulko ( ARG ) earlier this afternoon, suprisingly, in 2 sets : 7-5, 6-4.

If everything goes the right way, Caroline should normaly win the tournament but in tennis you never know what may happen.

Bastad QF : Caroline Wozniacki beats Maria Kirilenko ( RUS ) 7-5, 7-6

Won't say much about this match but it appears Maria Kirilenko led 5-2 in the 1st and 5-4 in the 2nd set but Caroline managed to come back in both sets ! I would say it was most thx to the failure of Kirilenko to close both sets than the merits of Caro of having fought back. They both played in very windy conditions and the match had to stop for a while because of rainshower. Yet Caroline qualified for the semis but she MUST play much better than she did today because it wasn't a good match at all.

Bastad 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki beat Petra Kvitova ( CZE )

This afternoon Caroline Woznacki got her ticket for the quarters after having beaten Petra Kvitova in 2 sets : 6-4, 6-2. In the Quarters she will meet Maria Kirilenko who Caroline beat at Wimbledon without problem 6-0, 6-4. It will be the 2nd act of the battle between Stella McCartney girls ! Normaly if everythings goes right, Caroline should won again of 'lil Masha.

I like 'lil Masha alot but Caroline goes 1st at my eyes and heart.

Bastad 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki beats Sofia Arvidsson ( SWE ) 6-1, 6-3.

Had no coverage of the game but as I believe the scoreline Caroline beat easily Swedish n°1 player Sofia Arvidsson in straight sets : 6-1, 6-3. She didn't waste much energy in this game which is a good sign but I don't think Sofia Arvidsson had a clue how to beat Caroline.

Caroline is the big favorite to win the tournament.

04/07/2009-11/07/2009 : Bastad ( Collector Swedish Tournament )

Caroline Wozniacki will play this week singles and doubles in Bastad ( Sweden ) where she's n°1 seed.

Caroline Wozniacki thoughts after her lost match against Lisicki

Caroline talks about the Lisicki match. I like No excuses (period, illness, I gave it away ETC) just frustration about her serve.

Lisickis serve destroyed Wozniackis rhythm
DR Sport 29. June 2009 19.13 Tennis
Caroline Wozniacki was fairly satisfied despite defeat in two sets 4-6, 4-6 to German Sabine Lisicki at Wimbledon 1/8-finale.

- Generally, I can not complain. I got to the fourth round and played some good matches. Of course I am not happy now, when I have lost, but I just have to keep training, and will I get my chances many times yet, she says to DR Sport.

It was especially Lisickis hard serves which created problems for the 18-year-old Danish hope.

- She is one of those who serves hardest. When you are in the rally, then you have a chance, but it is hard to get in when she serves those 120 mph (about 193 km / h, Ed.) each time. You cannot get into a rythym, it was just serve and returns. And she served well, it was difficult for me to get them back, says Caroline Wozniacki.

Wozniacki did not take her chances
Dane was not without chances in the match, but they were rarely used.

- Every time I had a possibility (for break), she served aces, and if I had a chance, I didn’t take it. It is difficult to say anything about the play today, because there was not really any play, it was very boom, and then the rallies were finished, determind Caroline Wozniacki.

The 19-year-old German boom-boom-server however, has not removed her faith in the future.

- I am number nine in the world because I have a really high level and have won some tournaments. And that I can be really proud of. But today I did not manage to win, and that is sport sometimes, you can not win every time, even if you'd like to, she says.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My reaction to this : Against big servers, you have to be a very good returner to frustrate them otherwise you have no chance against them ! A thing Caroline MUST work at at training ! She has to return much better than she currently does. Also using the brains more and working on a way better technique. That's the answer to give to Ballbashers. Taking the ball early. Reading their game better. And if you have some chances, you have to convert them at a range of 75% or above with such opponents.

So Caroline Wozniacki knows what she MUSTS do in the future to beat players like Liscki and others who only rely on a big serve and powershots.

Wimbledon 4th round : Wimbledon is over for Caroline Wozniacki !

Wimbledon is over for Caroline as she got beaten by German Sabine Lisicki in 2 sets : 4-6, 4-6. The passive Caroline was again at the business and showed she learnt nothing of her lost final a few month ago against the same Sabine Lisicki. Very disappointing way to go OUT of Wimbledon and unhappy she missed a very good opportunity to make her best run of her career in a Grand Slam tournament. Caroline Wozniacki becomes more and more Miss Missed opportunities. She's still very young but if she really wants making a huge impact on the tennis of nowadays, it's time to perform much better and beating some big guns of the tour. Also, her dad's behaviors : He pushes way too hard Caroline by asking her playing too much matches/tournaments. She has to calm him down, asap.

Wimbledon 3rd round : Caroline Woznaicki crushes Anabel Medina Garrigues ( SPA ) 6-2, 6-2.

Caroline Wozniacki beat with ease Anabel Medina Garrigues in straight sets : 6-2, 6-2. She will be there in the 2nd week of SW19. Don't think she had to use loads of ennergy in this match to achieve her goal which has the qualification for the next round. In the next round she will probably face a dangerous opponent : Sabine Lisicki who beat this afternoon French Open Champion Svetlana Kuznetsova ( RUS ) ... Lisicki who beat Caroline a few months ago at Charleston's final 6-2, 6-4. Head to Head, it's a tie 1-1.

Come on Caroline, Take your revenge and beat the German !

Respect for Caroline

Caroline Wozniackis next opponent at Wimbledon, Anabel Medina Garrigues, appreciates that the Dane has not changed personality despite top-10 ranking

21:16 - 25. jun. 2009 | Ritzau /Sport

Caroline Wozniacki is a star on the international scene. But success, according to her next opponent at Wimbledon, Spanish Anabel Medina Garrigues, has not left its traces on the Dane.

- She is the same person, although she is number nine in the world. It is not usual on the WTA Tour, where some players create a distance, when they become successfull. But Caroline is the same girl, "says Anabel Medina Garrigues.

- I've seen some players change when they come into the world top. They may not say hello if they have won a match. That is not how it is with Caroline explains the Spaniard who has already met Wozniacki during this year's Wimbledon.

The two know each other quite well and they train often together, as was the case Sunday - the day before the opening of the English Grand Slam tournament. All friendship will be forgotten when they encounter each other in the third round.

- When we are on court, so it is about winning. Afterwards we love each other, she said.

Medina Garrigues and Caroline Wozniacki have met each other four times in the past three Danish victories to follow, while Spain sent Wozniacki out of a WTA tournament in Beijing last year

Wimbledon 1st round doubles : Wozniacki/Cirstea ( ROM ) beat Hsieh/Peng ( CHN ) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2

Caroline Wozniacki and Sorana Cirstea beat Hsieh/Peng ( CHN ) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Nice performance of Caroline and Sorana against one of the best doubles team in the world ! Good luck in the next round.

Wimbledon 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki wins "the Stella battle" against Maria Kirilenko ( RUS ) 6-0, 6-4

Caroline Wozniacki won the Stella McCartney battle by having beat Maria Kirilenko 6-0, 6-4. A scoreline that could be much harsher if Caroline didn't fall asleep when leading 3-0 and 4-1
in the 2nd set where she kinda disapeared from the match, thinking the stuff allready was done when it wasn't at all. Kirilenko took advantage of it by coming back to 4-4 in the 2nd set. Hopefully she brought herself back in the match in time by winning her serve and breaking Kirilenko's one just after to win the set and the match 6-0, 6-4. The 1st set was a formality for Caroline.

Annoyed with the errors she made during the match especialy with her forehand, hitting balls inches OUT because of a poor position and loss of concentration.

Don't think she learnt much about this match. She'll play her 3rd round match on Saturday versus Anabel Medina Garrigues ( SPA ( N°20 in the world ) ).

Wimbledon 1st round : A disappointing Caroline beat Kimiko Date in 3 sets 5-7, 6-3, 6-1

People can't say they were impressed by today's Caroline display at all despite the win against n°142 in the world Kimko Date Krumm ( JPN ) ... Her 1st set was simply horrible. Date teached some tennis lesson. I presume, it was kinda a wake-up call for Caroline who finaly found a quite good form in the 2nd and 3rt set to prevent a very embarrassing loss. Not a wonder I was so cautious about her Wimbledon run ( that appears to be kinda an easy draw in the early rounds but in sport, a suprise always is possible ). It's not the time of missing the chance of making her best run so far in her career in a Grand Slam tournament. We'll see in the next round if she learnt things of this match. Such horrible show can't happen anymore and especialy not against an opponent like the one she had today.

She will play her 2nd round match on Thursday. Informations about the time and court will follow very soon.

Tuesday's Caroline's Order of Play.

Caroline will play tomorrow her 1st round match versus Kimiko Date ( JPN ) on the court n°2 and will start at 13.00 ( CET ) !

Come on Caroline.

Another picture of Caroline with the Eastbourne trophy.

Caroline Holding the Eastbourne Trophy as she won the tournament.

Eastbourne Final : Caroline wins her 5th WTA title by beating Virginie Razzano 7-6, 7-5.

Caroline Wozniacki has won her 5th WTA title of her career by having beaten, not without difficulties, Virginie Razzano ( FRA ) in 2 thight sets. Weak final or not, some very good players were there this week but failed to perform well, it's not Caroline's fault. Very satisfied with this Eastbourne week. A bit partying the Eastbourne title but not much as Wimbledon is waiting and if she doesn't screw it up, she has the possibilities of going far at SW19 and making her best run so far, of her career, in a GrandSlam tournament.

Congratulations Caroline and Good luck at Wimbledon.
