Doha Sony Ericsson Championships Round Robin ( Red Group ) : Caroline Wozniacki demolishes Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-1.

I thought it would be an interesting match to watch and also a fought one but I was wrong ! It only was a one way match with Caroline dominating an out of shape Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-1. Elena Dementieva couldn't stop of making errors on errors during the whole match : it seemed she wanted to get well spanked : well, it was a success for her : she went down with two bread-sticks. The match only lasted for 53 minutes.

It's the 3rd time in a row Caroline Wozniacki defeated Elena Dementieva this season !

Tomorrow, Caroline will play the last match of the day against Samantha Stosur. And if she wins tomorrow she'll secure for sure the Year End WTA World n°1 spot !

Other celebration pictures of Beijing !

Beijing : Mission accomplished for Caroline !

With a back to back title Tokyo-Beijing and her dream of becoming n°1 in the world that came true : Caroline can only be delighted of her recent performances ! But she also knows that's not the end of the road, just the beginning of it !  To be the Year End n°1 she'll have to win at least two Round Robin matches at Doha later this month ! Being in the semis and defending her last year point would seal it for sure ! But it won't be easy ! Even without Henin, The Williams Sisters and some other big guns, there are still quality players like Kim Clijsters, Jelena Jankovic, Elena Dementieva to name some of the girls qualified for the YEC at Doha !

There were well scare for Sunshine as she injured her knee during her match against Serbian and coming slowly but surely at a very decent level back Ana Ivanovic. Yet she managed to fight through scare and pain to win that match ! The match against Peer was normal service for the Dane and also a revenge after her defeat against that same Israeli earlier in March !

In the final both Vera Zvonareva and Caroline Wozniacki brought very good tennis to the spectators and people watching the final on their television by hitting great points and well fought rallies ! Despite having lost the 2nd set, the fresh n°1 in the world showed a strong mental and strong display to win the 3rd set, the match and the championship ! She didn't make the same mistakes as she did during the 2nd set !

Here are her Beijing Results :

R64 H2H BYE

2nd Round :  ERRANI, SARA ITA (40) W 6-4 6-2

3rd Round  :  KVITOVA, PETRA CZE W 6-3 6-2

QF : IVANOVIC, ANA SRB (36) W 7-6(1) 6-4

SF : PEER, SHAHAR ISR (18) W 7-5 6-2

Final :  ZVONAREVA, VERA RUS 4 W 6-3 3-6 6-3

Caroline won't be playing Moscow next week so she'll have 2 weeks of rest under her belt before playing her last Big tournament of the year at Doha ( Sony Ericsson Championships or Year End Championships ). As soon the draw will be out, it will be posted here on this blog

Tokyo Pan Pacific Open Final : Caroline Wozniacki beat Elena Dementieva 1-6, 6-2, 6-3

This final was the opportunity for Caroline Wozniacki to grab her 5th title of her season and 11th of career in total !

Well she performed awfully during the first set she was hitting errors like there was no tomorrow and seemed not focused at all ! Her foot work also was very bad during that set but I have to admit Elena played well at her side hitting some great winners ! During that set the n°1 seed didn't hit a single winner : well to be simple dire stats at Danish side ! But I think this awful first set was the wake up call Caroline needed !

In the second set we saw another Caroline Wozniacki she began to find back her tennis with committing less errors and forcing her opponent to make errors then : she was steady and knew back what to do to get confidence back and also playing a very decent tennis ! That set was even 2-2 but then won 4 games in a row where Dementieva was nearly non existant : 1st all and 6-2 in the second set for Sunshine !

In the 3rd set some breaks and debreaks 'till 3-3 where Elena Dementieva lost her serve to be 3-4 down : at the end it would have been fatal for her as she wasn't able to come back in the match ! At 3-5 down and 15-30 down she hit nothing else than 2 double faults which was the nail on the Russian coffin !

Mission accomplished by Wozzy with her 11th career tournament win ! With this she isn't far anymore of becoming n°1 next week if she manages to win at least 2 matches at Beijing !

CONGRATULATIONS, CAROLINE !!!

Tokyo PPO SF : Caroline Wozniacki won BFF's battle versus Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 6-7(3), 6-4

Well matches between Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka : two great friends aren't like others to say the least : we know it's gonna be a tennis battle of 3 hours and there was no change in that ! But the amazing stats were the amount of errors from both sides but especially at Caroline side who hit 44 Unforced Errors : that's nearly never seen from the consistent Big Dane !  After an easy 1st set where she dominated her friend Victoria, she lost the second on a well fought and close set but unfortutnately for Caroline it went Victoria side with a tie break won !

The 3rd set Caroline was 5-0 up and began to choke 'till finally at the good time she woke up and could finish off the match with a 6-4 win ( had lost then 4 games in a row ) ! Nearly drama on the Tokyo center court ! The final will be played against Dementieva that won her semi-finals match against French Open champion Schiavone in 2 sets.

That's all I could say about the match as I didn't watch it but it seems I didn't miss much as it wasn't a good quality of a match at all !

Tokyo Pan Pacific Open QF : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Agnieszka Radwanska 5-0. RETIRED !

Don't have much to say about this match as since the start Aga didn't feel comfortable with herself as she was injured ! That was a match for nothing ! Aga had to retire because of a broken toe said some sources ! Yet Caroline was very classy with her BFF !

Caroline Wozniacki 1st player qualified for the YEC at Doha

Today's win was enough for Caroline to grab her ticket for the YEC or Sony Ericsson Championships at Doha ! The tournament will take place form 26/10/2010 'till 31/10/2010. Congratulations ! She still is n°1 at the Race Ranking !

Tokyo Pan Pacific Open 3rd round : Caroline Wozniacki crushed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 6-2

Well thinking that this match would be tougher than the one versus Arn was in fact not true ! Caroline played well better though than what she did against the Hungarian but yet she played a solid, focused and steady match !

But at the other side, Pavlyuchenkova acted sometimes like a Junior : got frustrated loads of time and even at times where it wasn't necessary ! She brought totally herself out of the match ! The double fault that gave Caroline Wozniacki the 1st break already was the nail on her coffin at 2-1 in the first in favor for the n°1 seed !  After that she turned into an error machine, lost completely her concentration despite at times hitting some very good points. She was on a self-destruction mode.

Yet Caroline did what she had to do ! I think Caroline can be satisfied about her match !

Her next opponent will be no one else than one of her if not her BFF : Agnieszka Radwanska. For me the real big test for Caroline there in Tokyo !

COME ON CAROLINE !!!

Tokyo Pan Pacific Open 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki defeated Greta Arn 6-1, 6-3.

I wanted to see what she would bring after her post US Open break, I can't say that I'm fully satisfied with what she showed today. At times she looked rusty. During the match there were 2 negative points at her game : she never attacked the 2nd serve of her opponent and hit especially during the 1st set some very stupid mistakes with her forehand !

Hopefully the Hungarian hit loads of errors and also committed double faults on crucial points !

The score would make you think it was impressive but don't fall in the trap : it wasn't impressive at all : Caroline only did what she had to do without playing well at all but in the 2nd set it was better but still not clinical !

She won it ugly but a win is a win ! Her opponent in the 3rd round will be Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova : a tougher test than the one she had today !  Being up a gear in comparison with today wouldn't hurt at all !

Toray Pan Pacific Open of Tokyo 2010.

After 2 deserved weels of rest, Caroline has the Pan Pacific Open on her agenda ! SHe got a BYE for the 1st round ! I really am curious to see how she gonna perform on a tournament where she hadn't much success : in 2008 a 1st round exit and in 2009 a 2nd round exit ! All I want is that sheo goes far in the tournament with some very good wins and some quality tennis ! Her opponent in the 2nd roud is Greta Arn of Hungary !

NOTE : With the absence of Serena Williams she is the 1st seed at that tournament and of course she'll be the woman to beat !

After months of absence of this blog : I'm back !

After months of not having written anything since more than 6 months, I'm back to give you my impressions about Caroline Wozniacki's match ! I'm sorry for my accustomed readers for my huge lack of updates but I'm back alive an kicking ! Also I had the saddest news in July that my mother passed away because of the Parkinson disease she since more than 10 years suffered.

All her result from March 'till September !

Some random pictures of Caroline training at Indian Wells

Indian Wells 4th round : Caroline Wozniacki defeated Nadia Petrova ( RUS ) 6-3, 3-6, 6-0

It's the 1st time since the Australian Open Caroline Wozniacki win 3 matches in a row ! I didn't watch the match but what I red she didn't hit many winners, far from it ! She only hit 8 winners during the whole match. But getting at least the 1/4 finals of the tournament is quite satisfactory. But I still hope of more of course !

Indian Wells : 2nd, 3rd round results

Caroline Wozniacki survives from Vania King ( USA ) 5-7, 6-2, 6-4

Caroline Wozniacki crushes Maria Kirilenko ( RUS ) 6-3, 6-0

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Dubai 3rd round : Caroline Wozniacki ousted by Shahar Peer 2-6, 5-7.

There was no coverage of the match but what i've seen of the statistics of the match, Caroline played a very disappointing match to say the least ! She faced breakpoints at each of her service games and only held twice on ten service games played during the match. That's not what you should expect at all from the n°3 in the world !

Caroline only won 2 out 10 service games!!
Aces: 3
Double faults: 4
1st serve %: 60
1st serve points won: 19/45 (42%)
2nd serve points won: 11/30 (37%)
Total service points won: 30/75 (40%)

Shahar Pe'er only won 5 out of 10 service games.
Aces: 0
Double faults: 4
1st serve %: 61
1st serve points won: 22/43 (51%)
2nd serve points won: 12/28 (43%)
Total service points won: 34/71 (48%)

Disastrous : that's the only word that come to mind when I see such woeful  stats !

Where did she had her head at ? I'm sorry but this season so far she didn't show she's her n°3 in the world spot worthy ! She only showed so far a top 20 or 25 player performances : that thx to her 4th round at the AO otherwise it would have been worse ! Where's her game of last year ? But for me, I stay put, she distracts herself too much of the real job with the sponsors bull**** ( Rolex the last sponsoring stunt ), with budying up with other players while she had already enough excellent friends on tour ( Viktoria Azarenka, the Radwanska sisters, Sorana Cirstea to name some ) and some other stuff I don't know because I just am a fan ! I'm sorry, Caroline, you ain't on the right path ! Time to wake up, getting back to the real work and perform like the n°1 in the world you dream to become one day because the downfall never is far at all !

Dubai 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki defeats Dominika Cibulkova 6-2, 7-6

Didn't watch the match so I won't be able to give you my impressions. But it seems she played well to qualify for the next round. She fought back in the 2nd set though : she was 5-1 and 40-30 behind in that set. In the 1st round she didn't play as she was BYE.

WTA Ranking : Caroline Wozniack new world n°3.

It maybe is no news for many people but today officialy Caroline Wozniacki made a new ranking breakdown by going up a place landing on the 3rd place in the WTA Ranking. The Dane going up third and Kuznetsova going down 4th. That's her best ranking so far in her career !

Monday, January 25, 2010

Australian Open 4th round : Caroline Wozniacki sent packing by Na Li 4-6, 3-6.

Won't say much about the game because Europeans need their sleep sometimes and I don't think I made a mistake by chosing to sleep and not watching the match. What I saw of the statistics, also the comments and highlights about Caroline's match, she was trully awful ! A pure lacklustre performance from Caroline. She had clearly not her head to the match, she already was with her thoughts and mind in the plane for Denmark. She was good in the beginning but after 4-2 in the 1st set in her favor, everything went wrong. She became an error machine and didn't put a fight at all ! At the other side, Li wasn't great at all.

I bet it was her worse performance since a long time ! Yet again, she got beat twice in two weeks by the same opponent and it was worse than in Sydney. She let her fans , her team but above all HERSELF down and embarrassed ! A lack of professionalism and maturity ! That's what happens, in my opinion, when you let yourself too much distracted by things who have nothing to do with tennis. And yet again, she failed to make a Quarter Final in a Grand Slam ! I'm very unhappy and mad at her because she could go further than the 4th round.

Australian Open 3rd round : Caroline Wozniacki crushes Shahar Peer 6-4, 6-0

In this saturday night session, Caroline Wozniacki got a good win against a Peer who gave the Dane some work during the 1st set ! Sunshine started awfuly by being 2-0 behind but she could recover by breaking imediatly back Peer's serve and then holding her serve 2-2 but she had to save 3 break points though. It was even 'till 3-4 where Peer squandered breakpoints on Caroline's serve ! Danish Delight got away with it and kept her serve.

That was the turnpoint of the match because after that the Israeli collapsed : turned into an error machine, didn't know anymore what to do but at the other side Caroline with her mental and defense frustrated Shahar a lot ! The 29th seed wouldn't win a game anymore in this match. Caroline finished the first set without much problem.

The second set was a pure formality for the 4th seed who cruised without much troubles 'till the victory but yet funny enough during the last game Peer fought well but couldn't avoid the baggel despite having had some game points on the 2009 US Open finalist.

It was a good win but I'm still worried about her volleys and also some easy forehands she missed : that were the negative points of the match.

Caroline advance to the 2nd week and the 4th round where she'll meet on monday the girl who beat her 2 weeks ago at Sydney : Na Li of China. It will be a tough match for sure. So beware Caro !

Australian Open 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki beat Julia Görges 6-3, 6-1

It was not the most beautiful match I watched but Caroline played a solid match : she didn't let her opponent coming in the match ! It wasn't impressive but well more than enough to play a serious encounter. Caroline didn't lose her serve and only faced 2 breakpoints during the match which is already a very good sign.

But there's still her volley's to improve : she still struggle with them with hitting avoidable errors and also her too deep balls who went OUT when it was not needed to hit such balls. I guess it is her focus problems she at times has during a match but like yesterday it was very short. Also she should stop complaining to the chair umpire it won't help her to win the points who have been called out or called in points which she thinks were out : it's useless distraction.

At the other side Julia hit some very good points but as she was inconsistent during the match, it wasn't enough at all to disturb Sunshine. Also she has a quite heavy serve.

Yet I'm satisfied with her match of today.

Caroline will play her 3rd round match on saturday against Shahar Peer.

Australian Open 1st round Doubles : Bacsinszky/Garbin def. Medina Garrigues/Wozniacki 6-4, 6-4

The doubles tournaments is over for Caroline as she lost with her Spanish partner in two sets 6-4, 6-4. Don't know what happened but I don't think AMG is in form. For her it means a double 1st round exit !

Australian Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki beat Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4, 6-2.

A match that normaly should have been played yesterday, took place today because of the rain of monday that screwed up the planned schedule. Caroline Wozniacki entered the tournament without a single win in 2010 : she was on a 3 matches losing streak. The match began normaly with both of the players holding their serves but the Dane got well opportunities to break but she squandered them.
We had to wait the 8th game of the match to see a break that came from Caroline Wozniacki who took Wozniak's serve at 4-3 to lead 5-3 but unfortunately she lost directly hers so Blainville's girl could stay in the set but couldn't as she lost her serve and the set 6-4.

The second set was nearly a one way road with Caroline going up to 4-0. The 4th in the world breaking twice the serve of Aleksandra. But Caroline again had a concentration loss with losing her service game, then her opponent holding her serve. 4-2 . It would be the last game the Canadian Wozzy won of the match. Caroline hold and then finished the match by winning 6-4, 6-2.

She could close out the 1st set and the match quicker but didn't do it because of losing the focus but hopefully it only was for a short period of time.

Her opponent in the 2nd round will be Julia Görges who beat Tamira Paszek of Austria in 3 sets : 6-0, 3-6, 6-3.

Sydney 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki defeated by Na Li ( CHN ) 6-2, 3-6, 2-6

I didn't watch the match but it seems it was an ugly match to watch ! Even the Chinese hit more than 50 errors during the match, Caroline managed to lose the match : you have to figure it out ! She was up a break in the second set 2-1 and 3-2 but failed to confirm them by losing her serve directly after having broken Na Li's serve !

There was two things clear in this match : Caroline's serve is nowhere and she hit yet again too few winners. I guess she was the passive and clueless Caroline herself today !

Sarcasm on : Wat a magnificent way to start your season, Caroline ! You couldn't dream of a better start than this one ! Sarcasm Off.

If she thinks she's on the right path with that kind of horrible performance, she's completely WRONG ! Get back to the serious work to prevent yourself from another embarassement at the Australian Open.

Caroline Wozniacki is now in Australia.

Caroline Wozniacki is now in Australia with in sight the Australian Open : 1st Grand Slam of the year where I hope she'll make a very decent run but no way she will win the tournament ! First stop in Australia : Sydney ( 10/01/2010 - 17-01-2010 ) with as first opponent Na Li of China !

Hong Kong exhibition : her results !

There was no livestream nor serious coverage of that event but here are her results in singles :

Venus Williams defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-4.  Only one set was played : weird enough.

Maria Sharapova defeated Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-3. Caroline was 5-2 up in the 1st set but then collapsed !
