Year End Championships 2009 ( SEC ) SF : Injured and tired Caroline Wozniacki retired against Serena Williams ( USA ) 4-6, 1-0.

Caroline Wozniacki tried to compete for this match but unfortunatly she hadn't enough strenght but fought though during the match where she didn't look foolish at all. She broke 4 times Serena Williams's serve ( 3 times in the 1st set and once in the 2nd set ). But unfortunalty her serve game was poor though, she got broken 4 times. In the second set, Wozniacki led 1-0 and 40-15 on her serve but it was too much for her : she was forced to retire ! Beside the left thight injury, there was also a pulled stomach muscle.

In general Caroline did a very good YEC where I only can be proud of ! She didn't deserve such sad end but that's the cruel side of tennis and sport.

Now, Caroline needs a Long, long rest to heal her injuries perfectly and recharge her empty batteries !

I hope with all my heart you'll be back in January 2010 focused, fully prepared, in top shape and stronger than ever for a new season with loads of success ! I will miss you during off-season but Enjoy your hollidays with your family and friends in Denmark !

I love you Caroline and wathever happens I always will be a loyal and very passionate fan of you !

Kom Saa, Caroline !

3rd Match White Group : Jelena Jankovic beat Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2.

Don't have many things to say because it was a non-match at Caroline Wozniacki's side : she could barely move well on the court, hit many errors and couldn't serve properly at all. I think she still felt the efforts put at her two last matches and also the fact she plays with an injured left thight.

It didn't take much effort for the lucky Jelena Jankovic to cruise over Caroline and the match ! The score is fair, I think.

Despite the loss and also with the fact Victoria Azarenka had to retire during her match against alternative n°2 and also best friend of Caroline : Agnieszka Radwanska ( POL ). She won the 1st set 6-4. She went up in the second set to a 4-0 lead but suddenly everything went wrong with the young Belarussian, she choked big time to eventualy lose the 2nd set with 7-5. What we didn't know is that she felt an injury as she took then 8 minutes medical timeout. The work done by the physio changed nothing, she nearly couldn't move anymore on the court. At 4-1 in the third set for Radwanska, Victoria decided to retire.

For the people who love drama, the white group was the group for them for sure !

In the semis, Caroline will face Serena Williams ( USA ) but with Caroline's health and the fact she's OUT of shape, I expect nothing from her ! A miracle must happen for the girl from Odense.

2nd match White Group : Caroline Wozniacki beat Vera Zvonareva 6-0, 6-7, 6-4

Caroline brought herself totaly in troubles by blewing up a very confortable lead 6-0, 5-2. She couldn't close out the match and began to choke big time with eventualy losing the set 6-7 while also leading 2-0 and 3-2 in the tie break. Then she got a medical timeout because of her injury at her leftleg.

Even with that, she still felt pain at her leftleg and had to play the whole 3rd set with pain and I think she had tears in her eyes. She went up 3-1 in the 3rd set and could break again the serve of Vera Zvonareva at 3-1 30-40 but missed the opportunity to lead 4-1 , Vera Zvonareva held to make it 3-2. Caroline had an awful serve game by being broken back at love ! 3-3. Vera Zvonareva had no difficulties this time to hold her serve to make it 4-3 but it was the last game the young and talented Russian would win of this match. Caroline held on her serve to equalise to 4-4. You could see the pain on Caroline's face but she didn't give up. At 4-4, Caroline broke the serve of Vera at 15-40 : 5-4. Now, she serves again for the match but she had to face a break point, she managed to saves it and going 'till match point ! A match point she didn't let go this time by closing out the match full of pain !

It wasn't a good match for a very short tempered fan like me but I'm very concerned about her health ! Will she be fit enough to take at least one set against Jankovic if not beating the Serbian ? We'll see ! She still leads in the group with 2 victories on 2 and 4-2 at sets side. She isn't qualified yet despite what the Danish TV said !

Sony Ericsson Championship 2009 : Safina retired against Jelena Jankovic.

Dinara Safina ( RUS ) retired quick in her match against Jelena Jankovic ( SRB ). The score was 1-1 in the 1st set, then Safina took the decision to retire because maybe of an injury. Dinara Safina will be replaced by Vera Zvonareva who will then play against Caroline and Victoria Azarenka ( BLR ).

NB : Vera Zvonareva ( RUS ) was last year's YEC finalist.

1st match White Group : Caroline Wozniacki beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-4, 7-5.

If finaly was a good result for Caroline ! Quite impressed she could beat Victoria Azarenka when Caroline was doubtfull to play this match because of the injury she got at Luxemburg last week. It seems it was a great match but I couldn't watch it as I'm on lowband unfortunatly. As soon I can watch the match I will give my full impression but I think, by the comments I red here and there, Caroline showed great quality of tennis despite she lost the 1st set on a hard score : 6-1.

Yet, the qualification isn't there at all for Caroline as she still has to play against Jelena Jankovic and Dinara Safina.

Yet great begin to the group matches for Caroline !

Caroline last big tournament of the year 2009. Sony Ericsson Championships at Doha ( Quatar ) 26/10/2009 - 01/11/2009.

Caroline Wozniacki is now at her last big tournament of the year where she will play against the best 8 ranked player of this year ! The tournament begins today ! 1st , there are group matches where she will play against the 3 other girls she has in her group. If she wants to qualify for the semi finals, she MUST end at the 2 first places of the group otherwise she'll be eliminated.

The group draw took yesterday place and there is the result of the draw :

Group 1 ( Maroon Group ) :

Serena Williams ( USA )
Venus Williams ( USA )
Elena Dementieva ( RUS )
Svetlana Kuznetsova ( RUS )

Group 2 ( White Group ) :

CAROLINE WOZNIACKI ( DEN )
Dinara Safina ( RUS )
Viktoria Azarenka, ( BLR )
Jelena Jankovic
( SRB )

A very hard group for Caroline as she has never beaten yet Safina nor Jankovic. Caroline also lost her two last meetings with Victoria Azarenka. It will be her first participation to the YEC ( Year End Championship ). Caroline has nothing to lose there : I hope she won't put too much pressure on her and I hope she had enough days to recover from her Luxemburg injury. Yet I expect very good performances though , that she gives everything she has left under her belt !

Video of the presumed match fixing controversy.

A bit of the translation what Piotr said ( at that time Caroline led 7-5, 3-0 ) :

after some coaching advices he lowers his voice and says:

" when you'll win 5-0 or something you'll go to...[mumbles something, I think he says 'main...'] because there's no point. You won't play another match. So at least let them have... You understand? After that you can't do anything. Fight a little, see how it goes. You can stop it...if you want...call her [trainer], let her see how it is and tell her [mumbles sth]... but for now play, fight a little "

By this some people may think there was a match fixing but that ONLY ARE suppositions but for me it was a very stupid move from Piotr Wozniacki.

Tennis authorities looking into Wozniacki match.

Tennis authorities looking into Wozniacki match
By CHRIS LEHOURITES, AP Sports Writer

LONDON (AP)—Tennis authorities are looking into a WTA Tour match involving U.S. Open finalist Caroline Wozniacki that apparently sparked bettors to pile money on her opponent when she was on the verge of losing in straight sets.

Wozniacki, a 19-year-old Dane ranked sixth in the world, retired from the first-round match at the Luxembourg Open with a hamstring injury on Wednesday while leading Anne Kremer of Luxembourg 7-5, 5-0.

Wozniacki’s father, Piotr, told his daughter at 3-0 in the second set to retire before winning because her injury would prevent her from playing in the next round. His comments, apparently spoken in his native Polish, were picked up by microphones and heard by viewers watching the match on the Internet.

“I went onto the court and said to her: ‘Caro, it does not matter whether it’s going to be 5-0, 4-1 or 3-2. You can not play the next round, so you shouldn’t take the risk,”’ Piotr Wozniacki said Thursday on Danish radio. “I’m very proud of Caroline, because she stopped the fight and gave her opponent a chance.”

The father’s comments during the match led to a surge in online bets for Kremer to win.

The governing bodies of tennis created a Tennis Integrity Unit last year to combat gambling and match-fixing.

“We’re just looking into everything that happened in this match,” WTA spokesman Neil Robinson said, adding that he believed the information would go to the integrity unit. “I would think that would be the way it would go. They are aware of it.”

The Tennis Integrity Unit does not comment on cases, and neither would *******, an online gambling site that works closely with tennis authorities.

“Under the terms of our memorandum of understanding with sporting bodies worldwide, it is up to the sporting authorities to comment,” ******* spokesman Tony Calvin said. “However, it is reasonable to assume that in high-profile cases like this, correspondence has been made.”

*******, however, said it did not have any concerns about the match at this stage, and that the money won or lost was not unusual.

In Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Wozniacki professed her innocence.

“So, people bet on my matches. Some win, others lose. I just know that I am clean. It is most important to me,” Wozniacki said. “And if anyone is in doubt about my injury, I can both produce scan from the hospital and a report from the tournament physiotherapist.”

Although it appears unlikely that Wozniacki conspired to fix the match, she could still be fined for “lack of effort” according to International Tennis Federation statutes.

In 2007, ******* voided all bets on a match involving Nikolay Davydenko because of suspicious gambling patterns. The Russian withdrew against Martin Vassallo Arguello in the third set of a match in Poland, citing a foot injury. Both players were cleared of any wrongdoing after an ATP investigation.

Since the Davydenko match, other players have said they have been approached by outsiders trying to influence a match, and still more have been fined or suspended for gambling on matches.

Also, Davydenko was fined $2,000 for lack of effort after a loss that same year at the St. Petersburg Open, but the charge was dropped after the Russian won an appeal.

Associated Press writer Jan M. Olsen in Copenhagen contributed to this report.

Luxemburg 1st round : Unprofessionnal Caroline Wozniacki retired against Kremmer while leading 7-5, 5-0

I'm sorry but for me, it's clearly an unprofessionnal behavior ! What would it cost her staying maybe for one or two minutes more on court ? She was injured ? Oki but even on one leg, she should have beaten local Anne Kremmer. Also I dislike more and more the way Piotr, her father, interfers in her career : He doesn't have a clue what's tennis about. He maybe thinks he's the next big thing. I don't know. And the crazy schedule of Caroline is scary. I'm afraid that he will burn Caroline OUT. I understand, he's n°1 fan of her daughter and he wants the best for her but there are limits.
He should better coach the Odense football ( soccer ) team or a team nearby instead of doing silly things with her.
If she didn't want to play Luxemburg, she didn't feel at 100%, she should have withdrawn of the tournament.

Next week, she will play the YEC ( Sony Ericsson Championship ) at Doha with the 8 best players of the WTA tour ranking. I don't expect much, to be honest.

Osaka Japan Open QF : Caroline Wozniacki beat Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ) 6-2, 6-7, 6-2

Not much to say about this match because with the livescore only you can't bring story of the match but yet Caroline led 4-2 in the 2nd set but then kinda choked, she had loads of difficulties to go to the tie break that she eventualy lost badly 7-1. The 3rd set was easier because she went up to 4-0. Aleksandra Wozniak won her serve ( 4-1 ), Caroline held ( 5-1 ), Aleksandra kept her serve ( 5-2 ) then Caroline closed out the match on her serve to win the match in 3 sets : 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

Her opponent in the semis will be Samantha Stosur ( AUS ) ! The match will take place tomorrow.

Osaka Japan Open 2nd round : Caroline Wozniacki destroys Katie O'Brien ( GBR ) 6-0, 6-1

Nothing else to say but : Easy, Easy, Easy ! By this win, Caroline advances to the 3round for another all Wozzy match against Aleksandra Wozniak ( CAN ). The last time they met, it was 2 weeks ago but Caroline had to retire because of the flu ( not the lame Swine flu ).

Would be a much harder match than the one of today but if she is focussed, she should beat Aleksandra.

Osaka Japan Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki beat Ayumi Morita ( JPN ) 6-1, 6-4

Caroline Wozniacki beat Ayumi Morita today 6-1, 6-4. There's no coverage of the tournament but by the score I presume it was a quite easy match for Caroline. By this that's her 1st won match since her lost final at the US Open. Next opponent will be Katie O' Brien ( GBR ) for the 2nd round.

WTA Ranking ( 12/10/2009 ) : Caroline down one place.

Caroline Wozniacki down one place on the WTA Ranking. Elena Dementieva overtook her 5th place by also going down one place from n°4 to n°5 ! Svetlana Kuznetsova went up from 6th to 4th in the world thx to her tournament win at Beijing last week-end.

She will play this week Osaka and next week Luxemburg before going to the YEC ( ( Year End Championship ) Sony Ericsson Championship ) in Doha ( Quatar ) from 26/10/2009 'till 01/11/2009 if she goes to the final of course.

Caroline last blog entry !

She's unhappy with the WTA and tournament director of Beijing China Open. She wanted to play on monday her match versus Martinez Sanchez, not on Sunday.

Source : Caroline Wozniacki official blog

Hello Everyone,

Sorry it has been a few weeks since I have put up a new blog update, but I am in Beijing now and have some free time so I wanted to let everyone know what I have been doing. After my great US Open, and trip to New York, I went home to Copenhagen for a few days where I spent some time with my friends and family, and also went to Monaco where I have a home now too. On one of my days off, my brother Patrick and I took a short trip to Paris to attend Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s charity event with some other tennis players – David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco. It was so much fun, and I had a good time getting all dressed up for the charity every which was very, very nice.

After about ten days off (which was much shorter than I expected after the US Open because I didn’t expect to get to the finals), I had to head to Tokyo for the first of three events in Asia. I don’t know if it was because the flight was so long, or I was enjoying myself too much at home, but I ended up getting sick with some sort of virus the past six or seven days which has been very unfortunate. In Tokyo, I drew Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada in my first round, and I knew I shouldn’t have played at all, but I was hoping the adrenaline of the match would carry me through it. However, I ended up having to stop at the end of the first set and retire which I was disappointed about. After my match, I ended up staying in Tokyo for a few days to get some rest before I hopped on a flight to Beijing for my next event – the China Open.

In Beijing, I still was not feeling close to 100%, so I asked the tournament director and WTA for a Monday start (instead of playing my first round on Sunday), but it was very frustrating to learn on Saturday that I was scheduled to play my first match on Sunday. I really needed every hour of rest to get over this virus and ready for my first match, but the WTA or tournament director did not seem to care at all and take this into consideration. The WTA Tour is supposed to be a players union, but I certainly don’t think they represented my best interest this week in Beijing and it was very disappointing. In my first round, I ended up playing Maria Jose Martinez-Sanchez, and I played a good first set which I won close 7-5. In the second set, it was really close again but I lost it in a tiebreaker and then in the third set I just completely ran out of energy and ended up losing the match.

Losing my first round in is Beijing was exactly what I was worried about since I have not practiced for more than one hour in the past week. I was hopeful that if th WTA were to give me a first round start on Monday that I could’ve had a much better chance of winning and feeling better as I were to advance through the tournament. I am never one to make excuses because Martinez-Sanchez did play a good match, but I really feel the WTA and tournament director could’ve helped me and they chose not to.

So far my trip to Asia has been disappointing to say the least because I have only played one match and a set in the past two weeks, but I am really looking forward to going to Osaka for my last event in Asia. I have a lot of good memories of Osaka from back in the juniors because it is where I won my first big junior tournament. This is the first time since I have been on the Tour that there has been an event in Osaka, and I am really exited to be playing in it. My goal is of course to win the event, however at this point I would just be happy getting some good matches to prepare for the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha in three weeks.

After the Sony Ericsson Championships, I am planning to go on a ten day holiday with some of my girlfriends and it has been fun the past few days trying to figure out where we will go to rest and have some fun. I will be sure to announce my holiday plans when I know more, and in the meantime I hope all of my fans are doing well and thank you for all your tremendous support – it means so much to me!

Best Wishes,

Caroline

Beijing , China Open 1st round : Caroline Wozniacki ousted by Martinez Sanchez ( SPA ) 7-6, 6-7, 0-6.

Last night or morning Caroline Wozniacki got again a 1st round loss ! That's not the 1st time this season she got ousted so early in tournaments. And also not the 1st time she collapses when she got everything in hands.
There's something wrong with her mental for sure 'cause tired or not : You NEVER can afford giving a match away like that if you are a TOP Player ! Unbelievable she got again beaten against such average player.

I'm furious of this loss and they way she lost the match.
